who are they?
Momavlis Mitsa (Future for the Earth) is a Georgian non-profit organisation dedicated to rural development by means of the introduction of organic farming and contemporary cultivation and promotion of traditional Georgian grains, vegetables, herbs and fruit. The organization is also committed to providing a meaningful work environment for marginalized people, with a special focus on women and youth.
Earlier, in 2011, we supported their ecological farm project in Argokhi (2 hours’ drive from Tbilisi) and the start of the organic bakery ‘Au Blé d’Or’. In Georgia, especially in the cities, the demand for organic and traditional products is growing.
Recently, the Georgian Wheat Growers Association was founded, which aims to mark ancient varieties of cereals as cultural heritage. With the help of some French donors, Momavlis was able to rent a space in Tbilisi. The bakery now needs to be equipped with a traditional clay oven and a wood oven. In the future they are planning to realize a small organic café next to the bread shop.
In Georgia, there are several anthroposophical pioneers stimulating agricultural progress. It takes a time, but the result is already there.
